Medicinal Properties
Parts used: Above-ground parts. Used internally as a tea or tincture for bleeding of respiratory, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal tracts; as a urinary antiseptic, and for gout and gouty arthritis. Due to its mild oxytocic properties, traditional use has included stimulating weak labor contractions. Topically used as a poultice to stop bleeding from cuts and hemorrhoids, and for treating bruises, swelling, and strained muscles.
